The art of persuasion
A negotiation is a formal discussion to reach agreement about an issue. It is an important method to reduce conflict, and to get things done.
7 tips for persuasion:-
1) Build an
emotional Equity:- Build a emotional connection with the other person. Help
him out, do your homework/background research about him.
2) Envision how
the conversation will go:-Play out the conversation in your head. What do
you want to ask,what questions you want to ask first.
3) Listen: - Look
for ways both parties would win for which you would get a clue only by
listening.
4) Know your
outcome:-Get yourself clear what is the minimum case scenario you want out
of this conversation
5) Be flexible
in your approach:- Be ready to give up things which are not big for you.
Leave ego aside
6) Believe in
your position:- Be confident in your skin and position.
7) Be ready to
walk away:- Be sure about your ideal and minimum outcome,if the meeting don’t
hit that be ready to walk away.
3 C’S of Communication are:-connect, convey and convince.
For an effective selling or negotiation these three parameters must be used in
the same order as mentioned above.
To convince you gotta use WIC, what’s in it for him.
Another method we can use is NIC,need,interest and
concern of him.
Third method we can use is seek to understand first
than be understood.
Patience is the key for any successful negotiation
process.
